The trail is in “good to very good” shape. It was freshly groomed this evening. There are lots of pine needles on a couple of sections, but they won’t cause anyone any problems. I skied the whole thing, and found it very pleasant. The two ditches are quite safe.

There is plenty of snow on the ground at the Larose Forest. It is quite solid. Not icy, but very firm. It is also well strewn with small twigs. Reviews of the trail surface by skijorers at last weekend’s skijor clinic can be summed up by saying “safe, but not beautiful”.
Our much beloved groomer Nick will make several passes on Thursday, and he’ll send a report on Friday. I expect a smoother, somewhat softer surface on Sunday, but the little twigs mixed with the snow will still be there, because removing those is beyond the abilities of the machine.
